Our five-year strategy (2023 to 2028)
Our forward-looking strategy, reviewed annually, outlines what we aim to achieve through deliberate, progressive phases. It considers the time, focus and continual improvement needed to build a sustainable organisation. Each phase has been planned to ensure we deliver the people, processes and technology, at the highest standards, required for success.
Together, our strategic pillars and focus areas form the foundation of the NSRI's integrated strategy, connecting purpose, performance and sustainability across all aspects of the organisation. Achieving our short-term strategic priorities enables us to successfully execute our strategy in the long term.

Each success story contributes to safer communities, far beyond the moment itself.
The year marked a period of consolidation, as we stabilised after a major restructure, neared completion of a once in a generation fleet renewal programme and expanded our community reach.
Strategic reflection at the station commander conference in August reinforced the importance of calm, disciplined decision-making alongside the NSRI's deeply ingrained culture of action.
As we mature, we continue to balance speed with safety, recognising that long-term impact depends not only on courage and commitment, but on thoughtful leadership and deliberate choices that protect both rescuers and those they serve, always balancing risk versus reward.
Developing sustainable funding solutions
Every donation we receive enables us to save more lives. The ripple effect of each contribution is massive: just one donor's contribution can help to fund a rescue that keeps an entire family whole and a community safe. It is our commitment to honour every bit of support we get through careful and disciplined financial management, accurate and timely reporting, and good controls.
