At 16h53 on Sunday the 16th of November, NSRI Bakoven and NSRI Table Bay were activated following an eye-witness report of a man in difficulty in the water and being swept out to sea at Rocklands Beach, Sea Point.NSRI Bakoven duty crew prepared to launch the sea rescue craft ROTARIAN SCHIPPER and NSRI rescue swimmers, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and their Rescue Dive Unit, the Red Cross AMS Skymed rescue helicopter, WC Government Health EMS, Life Health Care response paramedics, ER24 ambulance services and the SA Police Services responded.On arrival on-scene a 25 year old Cape Town man had been rescued from the water by a male surfer assisted by two ice-cream vendors and 3 other members of the public who'd witnessed the incident.When pulled out of the water onto the rocks, CPR was administered as the patient was unresponsive and not breathing.
