Station 25, Hartbeespoort Dam, presented awards for some amazing rescues at the Transvaal Yacht Club yesterday, Sunday 28 September. Twenty guests joined the crew to witness the Awards being handed out to Coenraad Smith and Wicus Venter for the helicopter rescue of 12 people who were trapped in the flooded Mokolo river in Limpopo province and Yoelene Els who saved her young friend when she was severely injured after being hit by an out of control water scooter on the Hartbeespoort dam.After the handover the guests were given a tour of the base and enjoyed Coffee and tea and snacks prepared by the station's fundraising team. Yoelene and 3 of her invited guests were taken on a trip around the dam on Afrox Rescuer and were treated to a rescue display.Coenraad Smith receives his award from station commander Rod Pitter.
