Gustav Weich of Station 9 Gordon's Bay talks about water safety, rescue and first aidSurfers are usually first on scene at a rescue. Equipping them with basic first responder skills will help save lives.One of our volunteer WaterWise Academy instructors, Gustav Weich, spoke to a group of young surfers from Surf 4 Life this morning and demonstrated basic bystander CPR. Gustav is also one of our Coxswains in training at NSRI Station 9 Gordon's Bay and he was joined by his fellow crew Neil Slater and Etienne le Roux.Surf4Life was founded in 2011 and aims to introduce people from disadvantaged backgrounds to the wonderful world of surfing, making them part of a lifestyle that celebrates the fun and excitement of surfing. Its all about developing people, building friendships, and welcoming people into the surfing family.
