HOUT BAY:At 13h00, Tuesday, 06th January, NSRI Hout Bay duty crew were activated following a direct call to Sea Rescue Hout Bay from a Plumstead 61 year old man reporting to be on a 5.5 meter rubber duck with his 37 year old daughter-in-law and twin 4½ year old boys and a 4 year old girl, his grandchildren, and suffering loss of motor power after leaving the harbour and although he had deployed the anchor they were drifting towards shore in the incoming Spring tide.NSRI Hout Bay launched the sea rescue craft Albie Matthews and on arrival on-scene found the boat dragging anchor towards the back line off Hout Bay beach.A tow line was rigged to the casualty craft in the nick of time with the rubber duck drifting into the surf line and she was towed safely into the harbour and recovered without incident.PLETTENBERG BAY:At 16h50, Tuesday, 06th January, NSRI Plettenberg Bay launched the sea rescue craft RAY FARNHAM following reports of a rubber duck capsized in Keurbooms River Mouth with 2 men onboard, aged in their early 30’s.On arrival on-scene both men were rescued in the surf and brought ashore and their boat was recovered. They were not injured and once safely ashore required no further assistance.
