This weekend saw the official launch and hand over of the NSRI’s Vaal Dam Station’s donated Mitsubishi Triton and Discovery Rescue Runner.Organized to coincide with the SAMSA-sponsored worlds biggest inland yacht race, the “Round The Island,” the handover of rescue vehicle and rescue runner was a great success. Supported by large numbers of yachting enthusiasts - the race organisers hoped to better their present record for the most yachts on an inland water race.
All these boating people were warmly supportive of Sea Rescue and our two Face-to-Face team members signed up many new monthly supporters. In turn, during the race, the Vaal Dam NSRI volunteers were kept on their toes assisting those who needed help.
A big thank you to Mitsubishi Motors, East Rand and Discovery for your support of Sea Rescue.Pictures for media use are available on Sea Rescue's Flickr page.
