Saturday 06 August 2011: Car plunges into harbour:At 14h43 on Saturday 06 August 2011 our NSRI Agulhas volunteer duty crew and Emergency Services were activated following reports of a vehicle crashed over the Pier at Struisbaai harbour.NSRI crew, conducting a training exercise nearby at the time, responded to the scene directly and I&J RESCUER II, which was on the water busy with exercises, also responded.On arrival we found a Bantam Bakkie in the water. NSRI rescue swimmers jumped in from the pier, and found a man in the sinking vehicle.They broke the windows of the vehicle and the man, from Bredasdorp, was dragged out of the vehicle and brought ashore and transported to hospital by Metro EMS in a stable condition.Our NSRI volunteers recovered the vehicle from the water and the vehicle has been towed to our local police station.
