Richards Bay crew camped at the base this weekend, on standby for a local fishing competition, the Bonanza and the Inhaca race, a sailing race from Inhaca Island off Mozambique to Richards Bay.
It was an uneventful weekend filled with team building and training. As we were about to go home at about 17h00 we received a call from Dylan Banwell that local yacht Maranatha, with 3 crew on board, needed assistance into the port as she had an airlock in her diesel, and was unable to make her way back under sail. They had just returned from the Inhaca race the day before and had decided to make the most of perfect sailing conditions by sailing off Richards Bay for the day.We took the yacht under tow about 3 miles off Richards Bay at about 17h50 and towed her into port where we rafted her up alongside the Spirit of Richards Bay and took her to the Zululand Yacht Club.Dolphin rescue at Struisbaai
