At 22h52 NSRI Hout Bay volunteers were activated by the Transnet National ports Authority following a request for assistance from the Simonstown yacht Bamboo suffering engine failure. They were not confident to enter Hout Bay harbor under sail and requested a tow into the Hout Bay harbor in calm sea conditions with very little wind.The skipper of the yacht had contacted Maritime Radio Services and requested assistance after the yachts engine had mechanical failure.We launched two sea rescue craft Albie Matthews and Nedbank Rescuer and on arrival at the yacht a towline was rigged and the yacht, with 4 men onboard, was safely towed into the harbor and berthed.
