Surfski race organiser Billy Harker and his partner Tracy visited Gemini Marine to have a look at the Progress of 'Spirit of Surfski 1'. This 5.5 metre RIB was sponsored through the generosity of the surfski community, who raised over R800 000, after paddler Casper Kruger was rescued in False Bay in 2007.A huge search was launched for Casper when he failed to make the finish of a race in Gordons Bay, and he was eventually found clinging to his ski just before the sun set. This inspired many members of the surfski community to donate to NSRI via a monthly debit order, thus raising funds for the new boat. The naming ceremony will take place at the Daniel Conradie memorial surfski race on Saturday 27 November. If you would like to donate to Sea Rescue please call Jackie at the NSRI Call Centre on (021) 430 4730 or send us an email monthlydraw@searescue.org.za
