At 14h09, Wednesday, 7 August, the CoCT water rescue network and NSRI Bakoven were activated following reports of a young male in difficulty in the water offshore of rocks at Cosy Beach, Oudekraal, near to Bakoven.
A bystander, a local man, jogging along Victoria Drive, had alerted NSRI EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) after he had noticed a commotion and calls for help, coming from the area.
NSRI Bakoven dispatched rescue swimmers and were preparing to launch an NSRI Bakoven station 2 rescue craft.
An off-duty Llandudno lifeguard responded.
The jogger then reported to NSRI EOC that he had seen the casualty in the water in difficulties when he then noticed that the casualty had managed to get out of the water and appeared to be walking on the beach.
