Bevan Geyser, NSRI Bakoven deputy station commander, said: At 19h33, Wednesday, 28 February, NSRI Bakoven duty crew was activated to assist a local boat, reportedly with motor and electrical failure, with 5 local crew onboard, off-shore of Green Point Lighthouse.
NSRI Table Bay shore crew responded.
NSRI Table Bay shore crew got sight of the casualty boat - that started to drift close to shore.
Members of the local Cape Town Boating Group arranged a private boat, that was in the area at the time, to take the casualty boat under tow to prevent the casualty boat from drifting ashore.
The NSRI Bakoven rescue craft Gemini Legend was launched and on arrival on the scene the tow line was transferred to the NSRI craft - we commended the crew of the local boat that assisted - we then towed the casualty boat into the Water Club, at Granger Bay, where she was berthed without incident and no further assistance was required.
