Police Search and Rescue are continuing in an ongoing search for a local 20 year old man who went missing at Grannys Pool after he was caught in a rip current and swept out to sea while swimming.

Family of the man, at the beach, raised the alarm.

NSRI Port Edward duty crew were activated at 15h54, Sunday, 5 March, being swept out to sea in rip currents.

NSRI rescue swimmers, the SA Police Services and Police Search and Rescue responded.

The NSRI Port Edward rescue craft Spirit of Surfski 7 was launched.

On arrival at the beach, only a few minutes after being activated, NSRI rescue swimmers spotted the man behind the breakers but on reaching that area he had disappeared under water.

An extensive sea and shoreline search has revealed no sign of the man.

On Monday, 6 March, NSRI Port Edward crew assisted Police Search and Rescue in their ongoing search.

There remains no sign of the missing man.

Police Search and Rescue are continuing in an ongoing search.

Thoughts are with the family of the missing man in this difficult time.
