Port Edward – Tuesday, 13 April. Boat accident:Gert du Plessis, NSRI Port Edward station commander, said:At 18h59, Tuesday, 13 April, NSRI Port Edward duty crew were activated following reports of a boat accident near to The Pont on the Umtamvuna River.NSRI Port Edward crew responded in our sea rescue vehicle and in private vehicles, the SA Police Services, Police Search and Rescue, Med-Evac ambulance emergency rescue service and Hibiscus Fire and Rescue Services responded.On arrival on the scene 2 adult males and 2 adult females were treated for injuries and a female child was medically assessed by paramedics and she was treated for shock after their ski-boat that they were travelling in, on the Umtamvuna River, appears to have collided with a shoreline cliff face near to The Pont.An adult male and adult female were transported to hospital by Med-Evac ambulance for injuries sustained in the accident.They suffered serious injuries and they are recovering in hospital.One adult male went with private transport to hospital.Police and SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) are investigating the accident.
