Rhine Barnes, NSRI Melkbosstrand station commander, said:A Police Dive Unit are continuing an ongoing search operation for a 26 year old Delft man who reportedly entered the sea at a beach in Tableview and he has not been seen since.NSRI Melkbosstrand duty crew were activated at 23h04 on Sunday, 22nd September and a sea rescue craft was launched, NSRI rescue crew, the SA Police Services, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and a Fire Dive Unit and WC Government Health EMS rescue squad responded.An extensive sea and shoreline search was conducted but no sign of the man, who had been in the company of friends when he reportedly went into the surf, was found and the ongoing search operation has been handed into the care of the Police Dive Unit and Police who are investigating.
