TABLEVIEW:Marius Hayes, NSRI Melkbosstrand duty coxswain, said:At 19h15, Saturday, 02 March, NSRI Melkbosstrand were activated to assist Police on the scene at Tableview beach where a 27 year old local man had been reported missing to Police and it is suspected but not confirmed that the man may have gone missing in the surf at approximately 15h00.A search by Police and NSRI Melkbosstrand revealed no sign of the man and Police are investigating and a Police Dive Unit are monitoring the incident.
SHELLY BEACH:Jeremiah Jackson, NSRI Shelly Beach station commander, said:On Thursday, 28th February, at 10h15, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew responded aboard the sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn to off-shore of St Michaels where a jet-ski with a local 51 year old man onboard required assistance after his jet-ski motor failed to start while he was fishing and the jet-ski took on water.Crew on a local private boat Sea Witch assisted the man and took his jet-ski under tow and on our arrival on the scene near to Uvongo we took over the tow of the casualty jet-ski and the casualty man was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and we towed him safely to shore without incident.The crew of Sea Witch are commended for their assistance.
HERMANUS:Deon Langenhoven, NSRI Hermanus station commander, said:On Tuesday, 26th February, NSRI Hermanus duty crew launched the sea rescue craft South Star and rendezvoused with a fishing trawler 15 nautical miles off-shore South West of Danger Point to assist a fisherman who had suffered 4 crushed fingers from machinery onboard the fishing trawler.On arrival on the scene the local fisherman, in a stable condition and walking wounded, was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and brought to shore without incident and company representatives of the fishing company took the man to hospital for further care.
