At 16h52, Monday, 12th November, NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from a fishing vessel reporting to be heading towards Plettenberg Bay with an injured crewman onboard.On investigation it was determined that a local adult crewman had fallen overboard at fishing grounds. He swas found by the fishing vessel during a search for him and he was recovered from the water. He was hypothermic and displaying signs of non-fatal drowning symptoms.Our NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty crew responded to our sea rescue station and Med-Life ambulance services were activated.The sea rescue craft Leonard Smith was launched and we rendezvoused with the fishing vessel at The Point. The patient was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and medically stabilised. He was brought to our NSRI base and a Med-Life ambulance transported him to hospital in a serious but stable condition.We then launched the sea rescue craft Ray Farnham to transport a replacement crew member to the fishing vessel on request of the fishing company.On Sunday, 11th November, at 14h28, Our NSRI emergency whatsapp group received a message from a Plettenberg Bay member of MCSA (Mountain Club of South Africa), who is on our whatsapp group reporting that he was mountain biking on a trail between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna and in a fall he had fractured or dislocated his shoulder and he was requesting medical assistance.An NSRI Plettenberg Bay medical and rescue team responded to the live location that the MCSA member posted to our emergency group and on arrival on-scene, on a remote trail, the local man was treated by our NSRI medics for a suspected dislocated shoulder and transported to hospital for further care.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
