Fatal-drowning incident

On Friday afternoon, 09th November, NSRI Gordons Bay duty crew, the SA Police Services, GB Med Security ambulance service, ER 24 ambulance service, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and a Fire and Rescue Services Dive Unit, Law Enforcement Marine Unit, a Police Dive Unit and WC government Health EMS rescue squad, responded to Dam Park, Strand, following reports of a drowning in progress in a small dam at Dam Park.On arrival on the scene a search commenced for a 12 year old boy missing in a dam.During a search, including free dive search efforts, the body of a child was located and recovered from the water and sadly declared deceased by paramedics.His body has been taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest.Condolences are conveyed to the family.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
