Quentin Power, NSRI Ballito station commander, said:At approximately 23h00, Monday, 12th November, NSRI Ballito duty crew, SRU (Specialised Rescue Unit) and the SA Police Services responded to the Dudley Pringle Dam, Sandfields area, following reports of a motor vehicle accident.On arrival on the scene we found a vehicle semi-submerged and trapped in dense hyacinth and sinking in the dam approximately 80 meters from the bank of the dam.The driver of the vehicle, a local adult male, was found safely ashore, he had exited the vehicle and we believe bystanders assisted him as he waded to shore through dense hyacinth. Paramedics medically assessed the man and he was not injured.NSRI rescue swimmers waded out to the vehicle and confirmed that no other persons were in the vehicle, only the driver had been in the vehicle when the accident occurred.NSRI and SRU crew assisted local breakdown and recovery services to recover the vehicle from the dam.Once the vehicle was recovered no further assistance was required.TO REPORT A SEA RESCUE EMERGENCY DIAL 112 FROM A CELLPHONE
