“We are in Parliament today for the presentation on the National Department of Public Works Budget Vote. DPW have committed to a Partnership with the NSRI in terms of which we would receive long term leases for bases in small harbours (Hout Bay, Gordon’s Bay, Simon’s Town and Hermanus) from which we would deliver essential rescue services as a safety net for industries, big and small, operating from those harbours. The partnership also has a developmental angle with a vision to improve and expand rescue services along the Northern Cape Coast (Port Nolloth), Wild Coast (Port St Johns) and Kwazulu-Natal Coast (Port Edward, Selly Beach, Rocky Bay, St Lucia). Training and development of rescue personnel within these rural domains would form the foundation of the initiative. We believe that through collaboration we can achieve greater levels of service towards our mission of saving lives on South African Waters” Dr Cleeve Robertson, NSRI CEO
