File imageTheo Erasmus, NSRI Witsand Port Beaufort station commander, said:At 11h31, Tuesday, 12th December, NSRI Witsand Port Beaufort duty crew were activated following reports from the skipper of the vessel Dankie Tog, with 5 crew on board, that was suffering motor mechanical failure at Takheining, a well-known fishing reef 5 nautical miles offshore of Witsand Port Beaufort.The sea rescue craft Breede Rescuer was launched and on arrival at the casualty vessel 3 of the casualty vessel's crew members were transferred onto NSRI's Breede Rescuer and a tow line was setup between Breede Rescuer and the casualty vessel.The casualty vessel was then towed by NSRI without incident to her mooring on the Breede River where NSRI assisted the crew to anchor the vessel.Once safely moored no further assistance was required and NSRI returned to base.
