From first light today, Saturday, 01 July, the NSRI Hermanus Sea Rescue craft South Star and Jaytee III, NSRI Hermanus shore crew, the SA Police Services, a Police Dive Unit, Overberg Fire and Rescue Services, Cape Nature Conservation officers and the Betty's Bay Neighbourhood Watch members continued in an ongoing search operation for the 7 year old Claremont girl missing in the surf since yesterday after being swept off rocks by waves at Betty's Bay.Despite an extensive sea and shoreline search the missing child has not been found and only items of clothing belonging to the child have been recovered from the water during the search today.Sea conditions remained rough.The missing child is presumed to have drowned.The Police Dive Unit will continue in an ongoing search and recovery operation and Police have opened an investigation into the incident.Family are being supported by their family and friends.
