At 16:44 on Monday the 19th of September 2016 NSRI Gordon’s Bay were activated by Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following a request for assistance from a local Gordon’s Bay fisherman who reported a boat in distress close to the Old Gordons Bay harbour entrance.
The vessel Aquascape, a 17 foot dingy, had engine failure and the two crew had deployed their anchor. Sea conditions were calm and wind free.
NSRI Gordon’s Bay duty coxswain Ryan Holmes said,” There was some concern that Aquascape would drag her anchor and then land up on the rocks. Spirit of Surfski was launched at 16h44 and we towed Aquascape back into the harbour without incident.
