Attie Gunter, NSRI Witsand station commander, said:
At 08h46, Wednesday, 28th October, NSRI Witsand duty crew were activated following reports of a boat appearing to be in difficulty at The Bar, off-shore of Witsand.
We launched our sea rescue craft Breede Rescuer and on arrival on the scene found a couple, from Witbank, had encountered motor failure of their cabin boat and they had drifted onto a sand bar.
We pushed their boat off the sand bar and towed them safely ashore without incident and they required no further assistance.
SMS 32287 (R1/SMS) with your name and a message of support for our Sea Rescue crew.
