Tourism Minister,
Alan Winde, officially opened the extended Sea Rescue boatshed in Witsand today and Executive Mayor, Clr Emor Nel, blessed the 8.5m rescue boat 'Breede Rescuer'. Both guests paid tribute to the incredible effort of the volunteers and thanked them for their contribution to the community and the effect on local tourism.

The ceremony was well attended by local supporters as well as representatives from the flanking rescue stations. In a special presentation, NSRI CEO honoured the valuable contribution of Rob Wilson who undertook to bring this dream to reality.

It was lovely to have Tannie Gita Pretorius with us. Her late son, Leon Pretorius, was a former coxswain and Station Commander of Station 33 and we miss him dearly.
We can always count on Heyneman Yamaha Outboards, Swellendam. They have a long history with the NSRI and take a personal interest in all our craft.
