Marcus Oshry reports on WaterWise from the Eastern Cape:'Teaching the children water safety at PE's Walmer Primary School was a humbling experience as the majority of these kids go down to the beach at every opportunity they get as they are only 10 minutes away from the best beaches in the country. And 99% of them can't swim. The majority of the children didn't know what the equipment the life savers used so I decided to add a twist to my workshop and bring in some of the rescue equipment used by life savers and show them how we use it. In the event that they needed to be rescued they would know what to do. Marcus uses two children to demonstrate how lifesavers would swim to help someone - and where they should hold on if they are being helped.
