Bequest officers are a hard act to follow as two crew members from Station 20 discovered earlier this week.Janet Burgess, a Bequest Officer from Durban, who was due to address the ProBus Society in Scottburgh, last Monday about the NSRI’s The Lifeboat Circle developed a serious back injury and then to top it all she fell and broke her shoulder on Sunday.Station 20 hosted Janet and a group of Lifeboat Circle members at the rescue base last year. So Janet contacted Station 20 for help. Acting Station Commander, Pieter Coetzee, then asked John and Cathy Rolt to step into the breach and help out.“We saw Janet in action at our base last year and witnessed first-hand how dynamic she is so we tried to follow the example she set – a very hard act to follow. Nevertheless, I think it all went off quite well and the objective was achieved”, Cathy said. The sea rescue family also seems to pop up in the strangest of places. One of the people attending the address in Scottburgh is a former member of the Hout Bay station. Zoltan de Rosner proudly presented his crew badge, clearly dating back to a much earlier era.SAM_0500 John Rolt addressing the group at ScottburghSAM_0498 Cathy and John Rolt with the President of the Scottburgh ProBus Society, Jeremy Cooke (R) and one of the members of the society Bob Cummins (L)
