WaterWise Instructor Desiree Pinetown reports:On the afternoon of Monday, 3 February 2014, Timothy Loft and his friends went swimming after school in a farm dam. Timothy got into water that was too deep and he could not swim out.Desiree visited Nederburg Primary School to teach Timothy's class mates about water safety and to give them a message of comfort and hope. She warned the learners not to swim in the dam. She equipped the learners with survival and peer rescue skills and how to do bystander CPR.“If we act swiftly and calmly and apply chest compressions to a victim while waiting for an ambulance, we could make a big difference in reviving the drowning victim,” says Desiree.Desiree is proudly sponsored by TNPA to teach water safety in the Winelands.timothy
