Early in the morning of 23 January, KZN WaterWise volunteer Instructor Annie Waterhouse and helper Lyndo Ziqubu set off to visit 10 schools in the Midlands area. This was to teach water safety and to set dates for future WaterWise visits. This is her report:We covered a gruelling 274 kms and did lessons at three of the ten schools. The first school was Yarrow Primary in the Karkloof, a small farm school with about 60 learners, where they learnt what to do in an emergency. At the next school Lyndo poses with learners from Curry’s Post School.Lyndo Ziqubu with Lyndo Ziqubu with Curry's Post children.I decided to give a full PLAN lesson to Vrystaat school as it was the furthest on our trip. It was so far that I did not want to have to return too soon! The learners also learnt the emergency number with song and mime. An exhausting day but it was good to meet with all the Principals and set the tone for visits during the coming year.Vrystaat children learn the WaterWise PLAN.
