At 08h30 NSRI Richards Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports of a 27 year old local man missing in the sea after reportedly being swept out by rip currents at Alkant Strand, Richards Bay, before disappearing under water.Our NSRI volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched two sea rescue craft and the Transnet National Ports authority helicopter, an NSRI mobile unit, SA National Parks rangers and the SA Police Services responded.On arrival on-scene an extensive sea, air and shore search has revealed no sign of the man who reportedly disappeared under water as early as 06h15 this morning.Police have opened an investigation and are assisting family of the missing man while they are continuing with an ongoing search operation.19 - R19B Surf Launch
