Witsand NSRI, the SA Police Services, WC Government Health EMS, Overberg Fire and Rescue Services, including a Working On Fire helicopter, and the Overberg Disaster risk Management responded at 13h16, Saturday, 04th January, following reports of a light aircraft crashed near at an airfield near to Infanta. (along the Breede River between Cape Infanta and Swellendam).It is suspected, from reports, that the accident happened shortly after the light aircraft became airborne from the airfield.On arrival on-scene the wreck of a light aircraft was found with one adult man, the pilot, believed to be from Swellendam, deceased at the crash site.It is believed that only the pilot was in the aeroplane at the time of the accident.The scene is under the authority of the SA Police Services and it is NSRI's understanding that the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) has been activated.
