PE medivac sick fisherman

At 16:45 on Saturday the 11th of January, NSRI Station 6 were informed by the Fishing Agent of the Harvest Lindiwe that they had a fisherman who needed to be medivaced. The patient was vomiting and not able to keep any food down. The vessel was too far south and had to make their way closer to PE before the rescue boat from PE could launch. NSRI Station 6 were activated at 23:30 and launched their 10m craft, Spirit of Toft at 23:50. The Sea Rescue vessel rendezvoused with the Harvest Lindiwe just inside the bay at 00:10. Two Rescue Swimmers were transferred to the Harvest Lindiwe to assess the patient and it was deemed that there was no need to perform a full extrication as the patient was just feeling sick and not injured in any way. The sea was calm and the visibility was excellent with a bright moon. The patient was assisted down the pilot ladder and taken back to the PE Harbour at 00:40 where he was handed to the Shipping Agent who transferred him to hospital for further treatment.
