We wish you fair winds and will always follow your example.It was on the 8th of December 1994 that Nelson Mandela agreed to become the Patron-in-Chief of the NSRI. In August 1995 he wrote : ' Message from President Mandela to the National Sea Rescue Institute.'Madiba thanked the volunteers for serving the NSRI and the country as a whole, inspiring a generation of Sea Rescue volunteers.
