Two die and 4 men rescued in 3 separate incidents

ST FRANCIS BAY:At 10h00 (Thursday, 28th November) NSRI St Francis Bay crew were activated following a request for urgent medical assistance from the Chokka fishing boat GALAXY reporting a crewman onboard collapsed unconscious.We launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF ST FRANCIS II and on arrival on-scene, 15 nautical miles from St Francis Bay, our sea rescue crew found the patient pulse-less and breathless from suspected medical condition and Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts were initiated immediately.The patient was taken onboard our sea rescue craft and CPR continued until we reached our sea rescue base in St francis Bay where waiting Private care ambulance services, EC Government Health EMS paramedics and our sea rescue station doctor continued with advanced life support CPR but after all efforts to resuscitate the man were exhausted on-scene the fisherman was declared deceased by paramedics.The body of the man has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology services and Police have opened an inquest docket.CAMPS BAY:At 16h00 (Thursday, 28th November) NSRI Bakoven crew were activated following reports of a drowning in progress at Camps Bay tidal pool.NSRI rescue swimmers responded directly to the scene and on arrival found Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and Law Enforcement officers already in attendance and a search commenced in the tidal pool for an adult male that was reported by his girlfriend to have disappeared under water while swimming in the the tidal pool.The SA Police Services, WC Government Health EMS, the Skymed rescue helicopter, ER 24 ambulance services and Community Medics responded.During a free dive search the body of an adult male was located and recovered by rescuers from the water and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) efforts were conducted but despite extensive CPR efforts the man was declared deceased by paramedics.The body of the man, believed to be a 31 year old male from Cape Town, has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and police have opened an inquest docket.Police trauma counselors are assisting the mans girlfriend. NSRI volunteers in the Camps Bay tidal pool searching for the missing man.DURBAN:At 12h19 (Thursday, 28th November) our NSRI Durban volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched our sea rescue craft MEGAN II to respond to assist following reports of a boat capsized with 4 men on-board at the South breakwater harbour entrance to the Port of Durban.A Police Sea Borderline boat, that responded, rescued all 4 men from the water and they were brought to shore where ER24 paramedics assessed them medically, they were not injured and they required no further assistance.Our NSRI sea rescue boat recovered their boat successfully.
