Janet Burgess runs our Life boat Circle in Durban. Its a society for retired crew and retired donors. On Wednesday they had a champagne breakfast and it was a full house.

The guest speaker was Andre Fletcher one of the volunteers from Station 5 Durban. As well as being Deputy Station Commander, Andre is also a coxswain on the rescue boats and the rescue swimmer when on helicopter rescues. Andre is a recipient of a Gallantry Award for bravery. He had the crowd on the edge of their seats with his real life rescue stories. We had fun lucky draw prizes and a few raffles so many went home with little gifts. Over R4 000 was raised in cash on the day which means that the whole event paid for itself. Two codicils were taken out too. And 2 Talks were booked for the new year. The venue could only seat 55 and as we have 400 members in Durban, we'll be hosting more of these get togethers in the new year. If you would like to be invited please make contact with janetb@searescue.org.zaMr and Mrs Bowser getting certificate at the Benjamin.Margaret McCulloch is on the left and Janet Burgess on the right.
