Man missing, reportedly swept off rocks

At 17h15 (Thursday, 07th November) NSRI Bakoven and NSRI Table Bay crews were alerted by the Transnet National Ports Authority to investigate unconfirmed reports of a man swept off rocks by a wave at Three Anchor Bay.An NSRI Table Bay mobile was dispatched and Police on the scene confirmed that while reports of an adult male being swept off rocks near to the Three Anchor Bay slip way had been received there were no signs of the eye-witnesses and no eye-witnesses could be reached on the phone numbers provided. No sign indicated where exactly or what had happened.NSRI Bakoven, NSRI Table Bay and a Police Dive Unit were placed on high alert.Later, while Police and NSRI Table Bay rescuers continued to scour the area for signs of the incident, eye-witnesses and a female claiming to be the wife appeared and confirmed that earlier a local adult male had reportedly been sitting on the sea side of the promenade railing when he fell into the water and was swept out to sea before disappearing.It appears that they had gone to seek help when Police had arrived on the scene.A Police Dive Unit and Sea Point Police are continuing a search.
