Children at Hawkstone learn how to make a PLAN.Volunteer WaterWise Instructor Annie Waterhouse reports on her water safety lessons last week:Yarrow School was visited first and as the classrooms were freezing I decided to give the WaterWise lesson to the whole school in a sunny spot in the playground. I did need an interpreter and my helper really got the kids fired up with lots of dance and song routines using the fabric I use as a prop for a river! There were many make-believe emergencies and heroic savings all using HHH - HAZARDS, HELLO, HELP!Nearby Hawkstone is a larger school but I also managed to present the WaterWise lesson to the whole school in the sunny playground. Wonderfully well behaved children and with the help of the teacher soon had them all joining in the learning experience. These pupils understood about making a PLAN when playing in the nearby river and were able to successfully react in an emergency.
Teaching Yarrow children the emergency number - 10177 - in the sun.
