Wilderness exercise:

The Wilderness crew had a scenario-based exercise in Kaaimans River Gorge on Sunday morning ... it was a simulated 3-casualty situation, including 'a very seriously injured hiker' (head, spinal and other fractures) below the waterfall, his wife and a first responder.After being stabilised and secured, he was extracted with the Discovery Rescue Runner towing the inflatable 'croc', onto which the casualty had been strapped. Four rescue swimmers stabilised the croc all the way out of the Gorge. It was a great learning experience for all… especially in the cold-water conditions.
