Yzerfontein's Rotary Onwards.YZERFONTEIN:At 14h25 on Wednesday the 24th of April, NSRI Yzerfontein volunteer sea rescue duty crew were called out following a request for assistance from Vic Warrington, of Melkbosstrand, reporting that he was at House Bay, Dassen Island, and his Jet-Ski QUEEN BEE was taking water and he required rescue.Rudi Rogers, NSRI Yzerfontein station commander, said: 'Our NSRI Yzerfontein duty crew launched ROTARY ONWARDS and responded.'On arrival on-scene we found Vic had beached his craft and was not injured. We made a temporary plug to stem the inflow of water and towed the craft to Yzerfontein where we helped him to get the Jet-Ski onto his trailer. He required no further assistance and will effect repairs before going to sea again.'PORT ELIZABETH:At 08h20 the Port Elizabeth volunteers were activated following reports of two boats in difficulty one nautical mile off Cape Recife.'It appears that a 7 meter rigid inflatable boat lost engine and electrical mechanical power and phoned a friend to come and help. While trying to tow the boat the bow was pulled off the boat leaving both boats reportedly in trouble in very calm sea conditions.Ian Gray, NSRI Port Elizabeth station commander, said: 'We launched SPIRIT OF TOFT into rough sea conditions and on arrival on-scene we found only the one boat adrift close to shore with three young men on board. The second boat had managed to get to shore unassisted.'The casualty boat was towed to Port Elizabeth. There were no injuries sustained, and once ashore they required no further assistance.'SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) will investigate the causes of the boat losing all power.'
