Millers Point Pic: Chops Craig, NSRI Simons TownDarren Zimmerman, NSRI Simons Town station commander, said:'On Sunday, 13th January, at 06h46 NSRI Simons Town volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following a request for assistance from the 26 foot commercial fishing boat PENNY LOVER, with 6 male crew onboard, reporting to have sustained gear box failure after reportedly striking a Sun Fish off-shore of Cape Point while underway to going out to fishing grounds off Cape Point.'Our NSRI Simonstown volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF SAFMARINE III and responded in calm sea conditions and on arrival on-scene we found the casualty boat adrift and all 6 crewmen, all from Klipheuwel, Western Cape, were not injured.'A Tow-line was rigged and the casualty boat has been towed by SPIRIT OF SAFMARINE III safely to Millers Point where it has been safely recovered and no further assistance was required.'
