At 18h45 on Monday, 5th November Mykonos volunteers crew were called out following reports of a paraglider crashed at Spreeuwalle, between Mykonos and the Iron Ore Jetty on sand dunes.Gerard Brune, NSRI Mykonos station commander, said that Mykonos duty crew launched Transnet National Ports Authority Rescuer I and our 4x4 rescue vehicle and the SA Police Services responded.On-scene we found 48 year old Tim Hutchison, from Yzerfontein on sand dunes with a sprained or fractured ankle.He and a friend had been paragliding off sand dunes and he landed awkwardly causing the injury to his ankle. A passing fisherman raised the alarm.We assisted him to our rescue vehicle and brought him to where his vehicle was parked but he refused further help despite our offer to get an ambulance to transport him to hospital. He drove himself to hospital with the police following to make sure he got there safely.
