Educators from Station 20, Shelly Beach, KZN South Coast, presented a WaterWise workshop to the girl guides from the 1st Queensburgh Guide Company in Westville, Durban, on Saturday 22 August 2012.
A total of 20 guides, between the ages of 9 and 15 years and representing all race groups, were on a three-day camp under the leadership of Guide Mistress Natalie Raw.
Audrey de Jager and Cathy and John Rolt presented the workshop. Despite the bad weather, it was well received. The WaterWise and Rip current DVD’s formed an excellent base for the workshop, making it alive.
The smaller group enabled the educators to split it into two so that one group could do bystander CPR, while the other group could make and practice with improvised throw bags.
