Andre Fletcher, Durban’s Deputy Station Commander, writes about his visit to Bakoven:During a recent business trip to Cape Town I had the opportunity of visiting Station 2 (Bakoven) whilst the crew were reorganising their Boat-House Boathouse to better accommodate their new 6.5 meter metre RIB.Maintenance days are a very necessary and vital discipline for volunteers and even a visiting Deputy Station Commander was welcomed … to lend a hand. It was humbling to observe the comradery camaraderie and team work as each task was completed with determination and purpose whilst everyone mucked in. Station 2 also has, in my mind, one of (if not the most) technically challenging launch and recovery sites of any NSRI station.
