16 June 2012:During the night the 11m yacht White Eagle incurred damage to its mast, making it impossible for the crew to use their sails. They used their inboard motor in an attempt to get to Hermanus, but the increasing sea state and wind forced them to call for assistance about 15 Nm East of Agulhas.Station 30 Agulhas received the call from the owner at 06:15, reporting that the yacht was experiencing difficulty and in need of assistance with 5 people on-board.After advising them to turn around and come back to the shelter of Struisbaai, the Agulhas duty crew launched Vodacom Rescuer VII to take them additional fuel for the trip back to Struisbaai, and to ensure that they got to the mooring safely. At 11:00 the White Eagle was safely secured at the mooring in Struisbaai.
