The Hout Bay deep sea rescue boat, MTU-Nadine Gordimer's refit at Tree Tops Marine just outside of Cape Town is going well. She is being stripped at the moment; the rudders are being worked on and the hull is being cleaned and stripped for painting. It has been found that the ribs have Kevlar in them for strength and they are going to check the hull to see if it is Kevlar as well. The hull is in excellent condition. Next week the motors are due to come out and then they will start cleaning and preparing the engine room for the new engines. Pictures by Mark Hughes.
