Yesterday ( Monday 6 February 2012) the Hout Bay NSRI volunteers were called out to assist with evacuation of several houses and Old Age Homes in Hout Bay valley as a result of a major fire in the Disa River valley area running from Victoria Road in the North to Princess Avenue in the south along an axis of Empire Road.Kronendal Retirement Village was being evacuated while the Spinneys Retirement Village and Bay Mews Retirement Village were evacuated earlier.Our crew were stood down when fire was brought under control by some 15 tenders sent by Fire Department.
