Yzerfontein Snoek Classic

The weekend of 16/17 December saw Yzerfontein hosting the Annual Yzerfontein Snoek Classic which is organized by the local Boat Club. NSRI is the charity that they support and we really are enjoying incredible support from them.Every year at the prize giving a wine auction is held to our benefit. Pieter-Niel, one of our crew members,is a wine maker and he arranged 7 lots of wine. The Taj Hotel in Cape Town also very generously sponsored an overnight stay to the value of R6500 to be auctioned.The auction made a whopping R17000 and to top that the boat club gave us a generous donation of R20000. That is R37000 for the evening! A big thank you to everyone who participated in the auction, the Yzerfontein Boat Club for hosting the event and all the competition entrants for all your goodwill, interest and support.Our crew, despite working tirelessly at the competition and the event dinner, also got stuck in selling 'boerewors rolls' and cold drinks to boats returning from fishing. This earned us another R800.00.Needless to say by 23h30 on Saturday, when we finished the braai for the prize giving, everyone was dead tired. Despite that, when Atlantic Medical Response requested assistance I did not hear a single moan or groan at 06:00 on a Sunday morning, everyone jumped out of bed, ready to help. There was an unusual silence from the crew on Sunday catching up on rest...You guys are the greatest!
