The Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon hosted their second NSRI Wine Auction at the Balalaika Hotel on Wednesday 2nd November 2011. Auction Alliance generously donated the services of their very talented auctioneer, Gift Ngwenya, who succeeded in auctioning 70 lots of fine Cape Wines donated by a large number of wine estates and a few wine clubs in the Western Cape.Over 120 guests participated in the auction and entered into the spirit of the evening by enthusiastically bidding in the knowledge that all the money raised would assist the NSRI in their purchase of a new 6.5 metre rescue boat for the Bakoven Station. At last count R150 000-00 was raised through the sale of wine and donations. Thanks go to the 7 NSRI crew members from the Hartebeestpoort Dam sea rescue base who assisted, parading the large bottles on auction and in loading the wine into the successful bidders cars. Further thanks go to the members of The Rotary club of Knights Pendragon who convened this event and the Rotary Clubs of Table Bay and Newlands who collected the wines.
