Saturday was the official opening of the new Kommetjie Sea Rescue station. After the station was founded in 1996 it has not had a permanent place in which all their rescue assets could be housed. For over a decade Stepping Stones Clinic let the Kommetjie crew use a garage that is near the slip, and the rescue boats, rescue vehicle, and launching tractor were all kept in different places. The new rescue base is in a section of the Shell Garage that is not being used by them and is perfect for the needs of the Kommetjie NSRI volunteers.Thank you to all who have supported our Kommetjie volunteers over the years and to Shell Kommetjie for giving them a home at last.
