On Sunday morning NSRI volunteers at Plettenburg Bay launched their Discovery Rescue Runner , Airlink Rescuer and Sally Joan to pay the last respects to Tim van Heerden who passed away after being bitten by a shark at lookout beach.
After a brief ceremony we were given his ashes to scatter behind the surf line. Our condolences go out to Tim’s family and friends. We regret this unfortunate incident that happened in our bay and will do everything possible to keep bathers and surfers informed about any shark spotting encounters in the area. We ask all sea users to be vigilant at all times.
